Position: Finance Administrator (32 hours per week)

Availability: 32 hours (4 days) per week  

Period: Starting a.s.a.p.  

We offer an initial 6 month contract, with the possibility to extend (also to permanent after 3 years or 3 temporary contracts) 

Introduction 

This is an excellent opportunity for English-speaking candidates with experience in financial administration to work for an international non-profit organisation, with headquarters in the Hague and country offices in the Central African Republic, Ukraine and Burundi. We are looking for a flexible candidate who can implement our day-to-day financial administration. 

The applicant we are looking for will have relevant experience, is accurate, has a hands-on approach, and possesses strong inter-cultural communications skills. Experience with accounting software (preferably Exact online) is essential for this role. We are seeking a candidate who genuinely enjoys performing financial administrative work and does so with precision and efficiency. This person is a real team player, has a sincere interest in the topic of human rights, and is keen to work in the non-profit sector.

Job Overview 

For this role we envisage a financial professional with experience (preferably in an international NGO setting), who is driven, passionate and highly accurate. The Finance Administrator is responsible for the smooth running of the organisation’s financial administration through day-to-day implementation of financial processes. This includes processing and paying invoices and expense claims, booking income and expenditure in Exact Online, and supporting financial reporting on projects to donors. 

The Finance Administrator reports to the Director or Resources (Finance & HR) and collaborates closely with the Finance Assistant, two Compliance/Project Controllers and our external administration/payroll office. 

 

Overall Responsibilities 

  • Managing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable by preparing weekly payment batches using administration systems Exact online and Elvy, and perform all other relevant administrative tasks. 
  • Support project control by ensuring up to date financial information in Exact. 
  • Assisting with 4M, 8M and 12M internal financial reporting and with institutional or project audits. 
  • Together with the Compliance and Project Controllers, Financial Country Coordinators, and the Director of Resources, help ensure, and if possible improve, proper financial controls within the organisation. 

 

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies 

  • Fluency in English is mandatory 
  • Good command of French and Dutch will be considered an asset 
  • Relevant educational background in Finance, Accounting or Economics   
  • Proven work experience as a Financial Administrator, or similar role 
  • Experience in a similar role in an international NGO is a strong plus  
  • Time-management and organisational skills  
  • Analytical skills, logical reasoning and accuracy  
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills  
  • Always maintaining high standards of integrity and confidentiality  

 

What we offer 

  • A contract based on 32 hours per week with the possibility to extend 
  • Full-time gross salary range of € 3,566 – € 4,433 (depending on experience), to be pro-rated to 32 hours (pro-rated range is 80%: €2,853 – €3,546) 
  • 8% holiday allowance 
  • 20 holiday days (based on 32 hours per week) 
  • Communication allowance 
  • Commuting costs fully covered 
  • Participation in our pension scheme  
  • Flexibility to work from home 50% (office days are Tuesday and Thursday)
