Introduction
The Mukwege Foundation team is expanding, and thus we are adding additional capacity to our programme team. The Holistic Care (HC) thematic team at Mukwege Foundation’s headquarters in The Hague, will be scaling up, to better support survivor-centred holistic care programmes in countries such as Burundi, Central African Republic, Iraq and Ukraine; project and partnership development in other priority contexts, and global advocacy efforts.
This is an excellent opportunity for you, if you have a medical, public health or nursing background, specific expertise in care quality assurance and experience in programme management in conflict or post-conflict contexts within international human rights or humanitarian missions and organisations.
If you are considering applying, you should be fluent in both English and French, and have a minimum of 5 years of medical-humanitarian experience, including working directly with survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. You should also have an affinity for capacity-building, coaching and the accompaniment of professionals and partners.
Have you for example worked with a medical humanitarian agency as a medical advisor or coordinator, nurse or nurse practitioner, victim advocate, health delegate or program manager? Or have you worked on HIV/AIDS, sexual and gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, or other similar programs within humanitarian agencies? Do you have experience working in clinical settings and are you passionate about person-centred care? Then this might be an exciting opportunity for you to join a growing and dynamic organisation and support the continued roll-out of a survivor-centred holistic approach to care.
About Us
The Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation is an international human rights organisation working together with survivors of wartime sexual violence from around the world. Established in 2016, with headquarters in the Hague and Geneva, the Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation supports survivors’ demands for a world where sexual violence as a weapon of war is no longer tolerated, and bears consequences for individual perpetrators and states. We work for a future where survivors receive the holistic care & compensation, they need to rebuild their lives. We create opportunities for survivors to speak out and be heard, and where they can organise to create change, influence policies, and demand justice and accountability.
We are working towards a future where sexual violence in conflict is no longer seen as inevitable but is recognised for what it is: a crime that should have consequences. We want the international community to draw a line against wartime sexual violence and to hold states and individuals accountable. See also www.mukwegefoundation.org.
Job overview
In addition to its work connecting survivors in a global movement and supporting the work of national survivor networks, the Mukwege Foundation (MF) collaborates closely with its sister organisation in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC): Panzi Foundation DRC, to roll out Panzi’s holistic One-Stop-Centre (OSC) model of care for survivors of sexual violence in other conflict-affected countries. This international roll-out includes 1) capacity-building efforts and knowledge exchange, 2) financial and other support to multisectoral actors for the provision of holistic care and 3) survivor-centred and survivor-informed advocacy on national, regional and international levels.

They will regularly support MF’s in-country teams with applying best practices for and in executing key medical functions of holistic-care programming, including: procurement and management of medicines and materials, assessments, planning specific campaigns and interventions, monitoring and reporting on key medical assistance performance indicators and success markers.
The Programme Manager will also assume the responsibility as the primary HC desk officer for one (1) country of implementation within the current HC portfolio. This will mean that they will be the main point of contact for that specific country programme team, for technical support and advice related to Holistic Care.
