Reporting to: Senior Programme Manager, Holistic Care (HC)
Introduction
The Mukwege Foundation team is expanding, and thus we are adding additional capacity to our programme team. The Holistic Care (HC) thematic team at Mukwege Foundation’s headquarters in The Hague, will be scaling up, to better support survivor-centred holistic care programmes in countries such as Burundi, Central African Republic, Iraq and Ukraine; project and partnership development in other priority contexts, and global advocacy efforts.
This is an excellent opportunity for you, if you have experience in the coordination and delivery of holistic (medical, psychological, legal, socio-economic) care to victims and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), capacity-building for improved quality care, and in program management in conflict or post-conflict contexts within international human rights or humanitarian missions and organisations.
If you are considering applying, you should be fluent in both English and French, and have a minimum of 5 years of experience, including working directly with survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and/or with women and girls and other individuals affected by conflict. You should also have experience working with partners, including political actors, technical partners, NGOs and service-providers.
Do you have experience in organising support services and care for women and girls and/or victims of SGBV? Have you worked before in public health, social work, legal-aid or other similar types of roles? Do you have particular expertise in project development and management, including monitoring and evaluation? Do you have experience in supporting implementing and technical partners? Have you worked before in conflict or crisis-affected contexts? Then this might be an exciting opportunity for you to join a growing and dynamic organisation and support the continued roll-out of a survivor-centred holistic approach to care.
About Us
The Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation is an international human rights organisation working together with survivors of wartime sexual violence from around the world. Established in 2016, with headquarters in the Hague and Geneva, the Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation supports survivors’ demands for a world where sexual violence as a weapon of war is no longer tolerated, and bears consequences for individual perpetrators and states. We work for a future where survivors receive the holistic care & compensation, they need to rebuild their lives. We create opportunities for survivors to speak out and be heard, and where they can organise to create change, influence policies, and demand justice and accountability.
We are working towards a future where sexual violence in conflict is no longer seen as inevitable but is recognised for what it is: a crime that should have consequences. We want the international community to draw a line against wartime sexual violence and to hold states and individuals accountable. See also www.mukwegefoundation.org.
Job overview
In addition to its work connecting survivors in a global movement and supporting the work of national survivor networks, the Mukwege Foundation (MF) collaborates closely with its sister organisation in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC): Panzi Foundation DRC, to roll out Panzi’s holistic One-Stop-Centre (OSC) model of care for survivors of sexual violence in other conflict-affected countries. This international roll-out includes 1) capacity building efforts and knowledge exchange, 2) financial and other support to multisectoral actors for the provision of holistic care and 3) survivor-centred and survivor-informed advocacy on national, regional and international levels.
The Programme Manager will be primarily responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of different holistic-care projects across the globe, nurturing relationships with technical partners and supporting short-term experts and consultants who are deployed in support of MF programmes.
The Programme Manager will also assume the responsibility as the primary HC desk officer for one (1) country of implementation within the current HC portfolio. This will mean that they will be the main point of contact for that specific country programme team, for technical support and advice related to Holistic Care related programming. Furthermore, they will perform different duties on the global level, in coordination with the rest of the team, related to scoping and developing new projects and partnerships, in line with strategic priorities. In contexts where MF does not have an in-country presence, the Programme Manager may remotely manage projects and will directly support local partners.
The Programme Manager will work with the supervision and support of the Senior Programme Manager, HC. They will join the HC team in the Hague and will be supported by MF’s finance and administration team.
