UN Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed the International Reparations Initiative, started by the Mukwege Foundation to support and recognise survivors of wartime sexual violence.

A team of the Mukwege Foundation met with experts and high-level policy makers at the United Nations in New York to discuss the development of the International Reparations Initiative – a global fund for survivors of wartime sexual violence.

Together with Dr Denis Mukwege, representatives of Nadia’s Initiative, survivors from different countries, and representatives from the UN and varous governments, the team discussed potential collaborations and possibilities to build on the momentum.

At a high-level symposium, organised by the Mukwege Foundation in November, the International Reparations Initiative received wide international support.
