Prize for Dr Denis Mukwege

On 10 December 2018, Dr Denis Mukwege received the Nobel Peace Prize, together with Yazidi activist Nadia Murad, for the efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict.

The Nobel Peace Prize gives recognition to their outstanding work, and we look forward to continue working with them towards an end of wartime sexual violence.

Biography of Denis Mukwege

Dr Denis Mukwege is a gynaecologist and human rights activist from east Congo. He founded Panzi Hospital and Foundation and has become the world’s leading specialist on the treatment of wartime sexual violence. Mukwege is also one of the leading advocates against sexual violence in conflict.
